Vegan Pink Cheetah Bread Recipe
Bread making is one of life’s simple pleasures, but a great luxury.
Time, effort, and love, all put into one wholesome loaf.
Or in this case, many tiny rolls, eagerly awaiting to be served with a nourishing bowl of soup, or a simple sliver or vegan butter.
It truly is amazing to realise how much can be made with a handful of ingredients; a bit of flour, some water, a touch of fresh yeast, and salt.
Supremely soft, with a lovely, golden crust, and a slight hint of sweetness, they are perfect just served on their own, really, but also delicious as a part of a meal.
ingredients :
Dough:
- 375 g bread flour
- 35 g cane sugar
- 1 tsp instant yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 250 ml almond milk (warm)
- 20 g plant-based unsalted butter, softened
Spots:
- 1 tbsp. purple sweet potato powder + 1 tbsp of water stir until dissolved (purple spots)
- 1 tbsp. charcoal powder + 1 tbsp of water (black spots)
Preparation:
- Combine plain dough ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer. Knead till the dough turns into a smooth, elastic ball. Stretch the dough to check if it forms a thin membrane-like layer. Continue kneading if it doesn’t.
- Divide the plain dough into two halves. Divide one of the halves into two smaller portions. You should end up with ½ a plain dough and two ¼ doughs.
- Add your purple-pinkish natural food dye to one of the ¼ sections. Knead till you at the evenly colored dough.
- Repeat step 3 with the other ¼ section while adding the charcoal dye.
- Proof your dough in three individual bowls. Set aside to let them rise for 1 hr (or the dough doubles in volume).
- After proofing, divide each dough ball into 5 pcs.
- Roll one of the black pcs into a thin rope as long as your loaf pan.
- Repeat step 7 with the purple-pink dough.
- Place the black rope in the center of the purple one. Then wrap the purple-pink dough over the black one.
- Roll the plain dough into a flat rectangle, slightly longer than the previous ropes.
- Tuck the colored rope into the white dough and seal it well.
- Slice the rope in half and place the white dough with purple-black rope inside a greased loaf pan. (Watch the reel for more clarity).
- Repeat steps 7-12 with the remaining pieces of dough.
- Cover the loaf pan and set it aside to rise. (Approx.40 mins or until doubled in volume)
- Preheat the oven to 350 F / 180C.
- Bake (40 mins).
- Remove freshly baked bread from the pan and onto a cooling rack 10 mins after taking the loaf out of the oven.
- Cut to reveal the surprise print.
